Dylan Tainsh aka Dugong Jr has been quietly building up the production arsenal to make a break, and that time is growing nearer and nearer with every release. Fresh off the heels of his collective's debut compilation, Moving Castle Vol. 001, the Aussie producer puts his spin on Kilter's "They Say."He takes the original's upbeat, D'n'B esque qualities and flips them, submerging the listener in an impressive underwater synth-heavy approach.
Vocal chops and clever sampling carry the weight until the break, where the track turns into a future bass gem. Dugong continues his string of forward-thinking remixes, and with the Moving Castle collective diving head-first into a genre few producers would even dip their toes in, look for their success to continue.

Chet Faker is the creative alias of Nick Murphy, a 23-year-old solo artist from Melbourne whose debut EP Thinking in Textures is a beautiful blend of folk and electro. Rather than just restricting himself to one genre or the other, Murphy has combined his two passions and in the process discovered a form of music that is just as satisfying to write and record as it is to perform.
“Well, I always loved electronic music. And I was always jumping between the two. So for a few years I played that kind of folk acoustic stuff on guitar, then I got really sick of it. The simplicity of songwriting can really do your head in, the fine-tuning of tiny things. Then I would try and make beats and instrumental stuff, which I really liked, but then on the other end of the spectrum the unlimited options would also do my head in,” Murray said.
“The music now is the first time I felt comfortable with this sort of sound that did those two things. It was good because, if I did get stuck in the production side of things, I could go back and focus on the songwriting. I could swap between the two mental concepts without actually having to swap between the music I was making,” he said.
Figuring out how to merge folk and electro into his own particular brand of pop music has enabled Murphy to write heartfelt songs that play as both subtle and uplifting, and it is through the outlet of Chet Faker that Murphy feels most comfortable revealing himself.
“Because the songs were so personal I feel like there’s enough information on me without me having to go out and put up a bio on everything I’ve done in my life,” Murphy said.
“I think a big realization for me was that if I express it in song, it’s going to do two things: it’s going to make people listen to what I’m feeling and… it’s not just about me, if you do it well enough people can enjoy listening to how you’re feeling about things,” he said.
While still endeavoring to find his own sound and understand how to best express himself via his craft, Murphy first began to draw attention to his musical ability with his revamped version of Blackstreet’s classic No Diggity, which reached #1 on the worldwide indie music aggregator, Hype Machine.

What So Not are Sydney DJ/production duo Flume and Emoh Instead. Although they differ in size, facial hair and physique, both began their destined path to DJ notoriety as humble paper boys with a keen ear for jams. United by a love of surfing and the sweaty corridors and dancefloors of nightclubs, they set out to create a project inspired by the most universal of feelings: fun.This is not to say that there’s not a serious intent going on with their music-making. They first flexed their muscle in 2011 with debut EP ‘7 Dollar Bill’, scoring approval from the likes of Switch and Sinden. Their most recent EP release‘The Quack’ (out via local legends Sweat It Out and internationally via Skrillex’s label OWSLA) dropped harder than that time Tony Abbott crashed in on Flume’s wave (true story).
It featured guest vocalists/heavyweights Action Bronson, D Mac & Blood Diamonds, clocked up over 450k Soundcloud plays and garnered the attention of fellow electronic heavyweights Diplo, Bauuer and Flosstradamus. Of lead single ‘High You Are’, Emoh says:‘’High You Are’ was an experiment. We wanted to take the concept of groove-based house and push it to the extreme. Something that could hold its own, against the biggest 'EDM' hit, without compromising the feel and soul. The power to make people move, not just fist pump.’And so it did.
People moved their bodies to What So Not’s frenetic DJ shows (spearheaded by Emoh Instead, on occasion joined by Flume) all across the country, firstly on the 2012 triple j House Party tour, then on their own run of 30+ headline dates throughout regional Australia, NZ and various corners of Asia. Their mad energy and burgeoning fanbase was on hi-vis at their frankly mental headline DJ slot at this year’s Splendour In The Grass.
What So Not’s schedule for 2014 is jam-packed. They gave away a new edit ‘Touched’ for free download through their soundcloud in November 2013, it was the first piece of music that Emoh and Flume ever worked on together as What So Not and has clocked approx. 1.5 million plays on soundcloud to date as well as being a Hype Machine global #1.Their current single ‘Jaguar’ dropped 10 December through Sweat It Out in Australia and Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint for the rest of the world.
Having clocked over 2 million plays on soundcloud and pushing 700k plays for the official video as well as topping the global Hype Machine chart again, Jaguar is easily WSN’s biggest single to date.There’s also been plenty of touring for What So Not over the Aus/NZ summer with a slot on the national Stereosonic Festival in 2013 as well as high profile sets at Field Day, La De Da Festival in NZ and Shore Thing and Beach Life with Skrillex in Australia. The next Australian dates are on the national touring festival Groovin The Moo in April/May alongside Disclosure, Action Bronson and Wave Racer.What So Not’s first USA shows took place on the infamous Holy Ship cruise in Jan 2014 with a North American tour supporting GTA scheduled for Mar/Apr 2014 as well as some exclusive sets at SXSW and Miami Music Week.

Swisher is Play’s side project alongside his brother Phil-osopher. Under this alias they plan to get the ghetto out of their system (And yours!) via some hoodlum Hip-Hop beats.

The Red Bull Music Academy alumni quickly captured the world’s attention and with the amount of releases he has clocked up for labels like Brownswood, HW&W, Soulection and Project Mooncircle as well as collaborations with Chet Faker and remixes for Justin Timberlake, Flume, The Presets, Hermitude and Snakadaktal, Ta-ku looks set to continue with a crackling schedule set for 2013 already locked in.

Hailing form Perth, Coin Banks has released his long awaited debut solo release HEADS, featuring Ta-Ku, Homeboy Sandman, 20syl and Atom from C2C, Like from PAC DIV and others. Coin has been featured as the feature artist on Rage, Triple J and RTR FM and had his second single Think Of You added to full rotation on Triple J. His EP has received critical acclaim and has shown what he is capable of a solo artist.
Cutting his teeth in Perth hip-hop group The Stoops, Coin left in early 2012 to pursue new projects – including the Coin & Ta-ku collaborative album, the full-length Letters To The Sun collaboration with producer Akouo, and membership of rising live hip-hop collective UPNUP, whose lone track “Whatever Man” earned Triple J Unearthed profile and a Macklemore & Ryan Lewis support.
Coin has also spent the last year crafting away on some of his best music to date, gearing up to debut as his first solo release in 2014.
HEADS will be closely followed by its companion piece, ‘Tails’. Both releases show Coin Banks striving to make music that is original and carries a social and conscious message, drawing on inspiration from the Native Tongue movement and its modern day equivalents such as Top Dawg Entertainment. Since then they have dropped four albums (Alleys to Valleys 2003, Tales of the Drift 2005, Threads 2008 and HyperParadise 2012) and two EPs (Rare Sightings 2007, Parallel Paradise 2012).
Our most recent album HyperParadise won the prestigious Australian Music Award in 2012 plus a handful of other awards and nominations.
They 're studio nerds who've played live music our entire lives. And they have no plans of changing that.

This Alison didn't fall down anything; she jumped head first down the rabbit hole and landed straight on the decks. Armed with turntables, a killer vibe and an open mind, Alison turns countless dance floors across Australia into your favourite kind of Wonderland: more beats, less croquet.
Beginning with a background in indie and classical, Wonderland's best card is her eclecticism. Throughout her youth she toured Europe as a principal cellist for the Sydney Youth Orchestra and later played bass in a successful local indie band.
After inking a global deal with EMI, Wonderland released her debut compilation record - "Welcome To Wonderland" mid 2012, while her much anticipated first original's album is due out very soon! If the success of her remixes is anything to go by the record is set to be a game changer.
Wonderland has performed in LA at the official Grammy's Afterparty, all throughout Ibiza on top of MOS and the Brit Awards Afterparty in London. In Australia she has torn up main stages at Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Southbound Festival, Stereosonic, Field Day, Parklife (nationally), Good Vibrations Festival, Harbourlife, Sydney Fashion Week, Future Music Festival, Coaster Festival, Secret Garden Festival and more, not to mention her sellout headline national tours.
